On March 26 Lauren Pickott, PhD candidate in the group of Dr Ruben Bierings, won the Dr Jean Stibbe Award at the annual Nederlandse Vereniging voor Trombose en Hemostase (NVTH) symposium in Koudekerke for her presentation “Studying the involvement of BLOC-2 in trafficking to lysosome related organelles using a Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome type 5 patient model”.

The prize, named after Rotterdam hematologist and NVTH founding member Dr Jean Stibbe, is awarded for the best oral presentation during the symposium. The jury highlighted Lauren’s energetic style, her clear explanation of the advanced imaging analyses that she used and the innovative application of patient models to study biological mechanisms. Following Janine van Loon (2010) and Carolien Hazendonk (2015), Lauren Pickott is now the third researcher from Rotterdam to win this prestigious award.

Congratulations Lauren!
