On June 10 & 11, the 8th workshop on “Molecular aspects of normal and malignant hematopoiesis” was held at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam. This workshop, organized by the Department of Hematology of the Erasmus MC, is intended for PhD students and postdocs from all hematology groups in Belgium and the Netherlands, so they can present their latest research and meet their colleagues.
An experienced keynote speaker was invited for each session. This year’s keynotes were:
- Cristina Correia Antunes Pina, Sanquin, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
- Panagiotis Ntziachristos, Ghent University, Gent, Belgium
- Ningqing Liu, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
- Özgen Deniz, Barts Cancer Institute, London, U.K.
- Thomas Mercher, Gustave Roussy, Paris, France
- Davide Seruggia, St. Anna Children's Cancer Research Institute, Vienna, Austria
Although there were some logistical difficulties due to the NS strike, most people who registered were able to attend the, again, very successful workshop. There were 150 researchers from more than 10 research groups.
On Tuesday evening there was a joined dinner at De Chinese Boot.
