Mandy Lauw (internist-hematologist) received the EHA YoungEHA Award during the recent European Hematology Association (EHA) congress in Milan.
During the plenary session, she and the other 2025 EHA Honorary Award winners were honored with this special award and a speech by EHA President Antonio Almeida.
The YoungEHA award is presented to a young hematologist or scientist in hematology who has made an exceptional scientific, clinical, and/or networking contribution to the advancement of early career professionals (younger hematologists (in training) and scientists). It is not always self-evident that similar opportunities exist for young hematologists or scientists within an international association like the EHA, that the programs offered are relevant, or that this generation is involved in the content or organization of scientific events.
Mandy Lauw has strongly championed this through her contributions to the EHA YoungEHA committee, particularly between 2021 and 2024 when she chaired it. Thanks in part to her efforts, the YoungEHA committee has acquired a highly visible and central position within the EHA organization, with the younger generation clearly influencing various educational and research programs, events, conferences, and strategy.
Thanks in part to Mandy, the younger generation has had more opportunities to contribute to various activities, and the programs are increasingly tailored to the needs of younger hematologists and scientists across Europe, where there can still be significant differences between countries. This YoungEHA award is a wonderful recognition of Mandy's contributions and achievements, and of the Dutch commitment to EHA.
