On October 20-24 Tim van Tienhoven attended the 2025 FEBS Workshop on the Molecular and Cellular Pathways of Aging in Hematopoiesis in Crete, Greece. He had already received a grant to attend, as well as both a poster presentation and a short oral presentation. Here, he presented his work titled "Targeting mitochondria mitigates chemotherapy-induced bone marrow dysfunction."
Both the poster session and oral presentation went exceptionally. Based on feedback and interest alone, it was clear he was the crowd favorite and was most likely to win the prestigious FEBS journal prize. Though humble as always, Tim brushed this off and emphasized the high level of all presentations. When his name was finally called to come to the podium and receive his award, the great applause from both junior scientists and senior PI’s from all over the world was a clear signifier of how well deserved it was. Congratulations Tim!
