On 24 March, Christian Vonk successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled ‘Advancing molecular measurable residual disease detection by next-generation sequencing in acute myeloid leukemia'.
Christian worked at the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, under the supervision of copromotor Dr Valk and promotor Prof Dr Delwel. His PhD focused on the further development of molecular monitoring in acute myeloid leukemia, in particular using next-generation sequencing. Christian has identified several molecular markers that further optimize the molecular monitoring of residual disease in patients with acute myeloid leukemia. Some of these markers are now included in international guidelines.
